Finally, the rope leash that avoided the landfill!
The eco-friendly RMD Leashes are handmade by a tiny team of local animal lovers in Calgary, AB! Each leash is made from retired and upcycled climbing rope that is cut, tied and stitched for your dog's adventures.
These rope leashes are durable and lightweight with a locking carabiner to give you the ultimate confidence on the trail or a walk around the neighbourhood.
Available in a variety of colours in 5' or 8' length leashes.
We wash all climbing rope that we make leashes out of. Overall, the rope on each leash is in great condition, we can't guarantee that the rope looks perfect but we can guarantee the rope will last the life of your dog!
Buy an eco-friendly rope leash and plant a tree!
Yeessss! For every eco-friendly rope leash we sell, we will plant a tree in British Columbia on your behalf partnering with ONETREEPLANTED. We will keep a tally on this webpage of how many rope leashes we've sold and trees planted.
Does it get any better than that? You are avoiding climbing rope going to a landfill and you are planting a tree!
Benefits of buying an eco-friendly rope leash
Buying local (made in Canada) means more money for Canadian businesses
Avoiding landfills means you are keeping our backyard clean
Upcycling climbing rope saves on carbon emissions by not shipping new rope across the country or globe
Plant a tree when you buy the eco-friendly rope leash
The carabiner makes it easy to clip your pup anywhere - hiking, backcountry skiing, organizing your mountain bike by your truck or going to a dog-friendly patio.
RMD eco rope leashes are made from recycled material and assembled in Canada.
Do you have climbing rope to sell?
We pay up to $.50 per 1m of clean, gently used rope or you can donate it to us. Please email us a photograph of your rope and we'll make you an offer! Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 403-540-2746 with any questions.
Where do we get the rope from?
There are two main sources of supply of our rope leashes:
Local climbing facilities in Alberta - we pay or receive donations from climbing gyms in Calgary and surrounding cities
People like you - we've posted in local climbing groups on Facebook for rope.
Because these leashes do not have a swivel function, we do not recommend using a metal choke chain training slip collar with these rope leashes. All other collars are fine.
