Amanda, Jerri, Molly & Reggie

My name is Amanda Nelson, I live in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. I have 3 dogs, their names are Jerri, Molly and Reggie. I'm currently an endurance athlete in ultra and trail running, an endurance coach, and I work part time on a dairy farm. I enjoy running, hiking and spending time with my family! What is your favorite activity to do with your dog(s)?
My favourite activity to do with my dogs is definitely running. Molly and Reggie both run with me for a lot of my training. Reggie has only started recently as he just turned 1, but Molly has been running with me for almost 6 years. I also enjoy hiking with the dogs because that way I can include Jerri, our older dog.

What do you love most about your dog(s)?
I love how much they care about me and the whole family and they are always there to greet me when I get home! I also love how excited they are when I say we are going for a walk or a run.

Where is your favorite place to go hiking?
This past summer my family and I traveled up north to Lake superior to visit Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. Hiking to the top of the giant has got to be my favourite hike with my dogs to date. Even my senior dog, Jerri made the 22k hike to the top and back! Aside from there, my family and I enjoy hiking the Bruce trail! It is in driving distance for us to go explore!

What other activities do you do with your dog(s)?
My youngest dog Reggie loves to swim a lot!  Molly likes it when its real hot out. Jerri isn't going to jump in on his own or anything but he does enjoy a good swim from time to time. The dogs love to run up and down the hill in our backyard when the kids are sledding. Reggie loves to play fetch and tug of war!

What is your favorite RMD product?
I have the backpack which I purchased because of the Sleeping Giant hike and being unsure if Jerri could walk all the way, and Jerri has the harness and v2 Canmore All Mountain Dog Leash! Although I haven’t used the backpack much, I trained with Jerri in it to make sure I could walk at least 10 km carrying all 50 lbs of him! My dogs also recently used the Dog Goggles, and they are amazing! I enjoy all of these products and love their quality.

Why would you recommend RMD Products?
I love how Rocky Mountain Dog is a Canadian based company and there for being Canadian myself it makes complete sense to support a Canadian company especially since the quality is so high! RMD also has amazing colour choices which draws me in! 

Next adventure: My dogs get to join me on amazing hikes and runs thanks to the races I train for! Since they’re part of my training, they get to explore alongside me. I do travel too far for most races, so they can’t come along, but they know that once I return, we’ll be back at it! My next adventure will be the Black Canyon Ultras 100K, part of the World Trail Majors, in February 2026.

Fun facts about me: I hold two national records, the 24-hour record at 248.985 km and the Backyard Ultra record of 60 hours (402 km). For context, a Backyard Ultra is a last-man-standing race consisting of 6.7 km every hour, on the hour. I’m happily married to a very supportive husband and have two active children, Hanna (12) and Chase (11).
