Design Inspiration

In the heart of Banff National Park, rises Mt. Rundle a timeless symbol of natural beauty and wonder. Its iconic silhouette, adorned with rugged peaks and dramatic cliffs, dominates the skyline. Rising 9,675 feet (2,949 meters) above sea level, Mt. Rundle commands attention. Mt. Rundle could actually be considered a small mountain range as it extends for over twelve kilometres. It is one of the most popular mountain scrambles in the park but if you go, start early, it can take up to 7-8 hours long.

The Grizzly leash features of course a Grizzly bear and Rundle Mountain, the peak that towers over the town of Banff, Alberta. Its imposing face, carved by ancient glaciers, showcases the passage of time and the immense power of nature. Grizzly Bears also a symbol of power and resilience were an easy choice to add to our design. We wanted a neutral design option and used the Mountain summit as inspiration with this black and white design.

About the Artist

The artist who designed the Banff design is Nova DeFehr, she moved to Vernon, BC after graduating with her Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design for Marketing in 2008 and has worked for amazing brands across Canada specializing in logo and brand development.

In fact, she is a big part of Rocky Mountain Dog's brand, designing our logo and our first four leash designs.

Rocky Mountain Dog will always be inspired by the Rocky Mountains in every design and product developed and sold because we are inspired by mountains and the moments created when we're outdoors with our best friend, our dog.

I bought their Grizzly bear all mountain leash for hiking with my dog. Great design, light and functional for what I need. Highly recommend.

Great leash

I really enjoy the leash and use it everyday however I wish I knew what the distance of the 6ft leash would be when wrapped around the waist otherwise I would have gotten the 8ft one as I find it just a bit short when around the waist but still manageable. Also I really hope that for future they consider adding reflective material to the leash for visibility when walking at night time. Other than that I really like the leash and appreciate the padding in the handle if I wanna use it handheld. I also appreciate the attachment for **** bags. I would definitely recommend this leash.

Our go to for every adventure with the doggo! Perfect for hiking, ski touring and park dates. This leash is long enough to wrap around your waist and has lots of clips/ attachments. Love to pair it with RMD’s harness!

Love this leash

This is my second leash. The first one outlived my previous golden however the new puppy tore it apart. My one request would be to have the handle a little easier to find especially when wearing mitts or gloves.

So far so good.

The new gear is excellent and makes walks easier for both of us.

Rocky Mountain waist pack with water bottle holder

It was really excited for this product. It has lots of great compartments making it easy to carry all the things.
As far as design goes, I would have liked the water bottle holder on the other side as I hold the leash with my right hand across body. Not a big deal though.
I also find it cumbersome to wear and heavy with a full water bottle. I tired wearing it in different orientations but I find myself not using it and carrying the water bottle separately.

Favorite leashes by far! Extra long for more exploration.

Well made leash , but not what I ordered. We have a small dog and purchased the 6ft leash but 8 ft is what I received so all we do is trip over it. Disappointing indeed

Best leash

After trying the rocky mountain leashes I’m not sure I’ll ever buy anything else. I love how easy it is to put it around my waist or convert to a handheld leash, the small bungee that absorbs shock without adding a lot of extra length, the thicker handle and the extra handle near the bottom. 100% recommend!

I purchased a hands free

I purchased a hands free bungee leash for my Australian Shepherd. This is a perfect leash for our hiking and running requirements. In addition the leashes come in cool patterns and are good quality.
