Kate & Kinney

Kate and Kinney live in Golden BC, where Kate works for Chatter Creek Mountain Lodges as their Operations Assistant. In the summer months she works as a raft guide on the Nahanni River in the NWT. In her spare time you can find Kate and Kinney hiking on the trails, running, cross country skiing or ski touring. They love to be outside and currently Kate is getting her masters in Sport and Recreation. Kinney is a one and half year old border collie/Australian shepherd mix and loves being on the trails with Kate.

What is your favourite activity to do with your dog(s)? 

Hiking! Whether its day hikes, scrambles, or backpacking, we love to hike together. 

What do you love most about your dog(s)?

Kinney has matured into a wonderful adventure dog who has an amazing off switch. She is the best in the west at cuddling but she is always down for adventure. Whether its in the front of a canoe, backpacking or any type of skiing, you can always count on Kinney thriving and loving her life! Her constant loyalty and love of adventure is why she is my best friend. 

Where is your favourite place to go Hiking? 

Anywhere in the Rockies! Yoho, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay etc. But we especially love the ice fields parkway. 

What other activities do you do with your dog(s)?

Canoeing, standup paddle boarding, ski touring, sc skiing, backpacking and running 

What is your favourite RMD product? 

We never adventure without our handsfree Kootenay Winter All mountain Leash with the matching Blue Summit All Terrain Harness. It makes our adventures fun and easy.

I love that they represent all of our favorite places and I know the gear is of good quality that can support our adventures in the backcountry. 

What is your next adventure? 

Patiently waiting for the snow to fly so we an go backcountry skiing. This will be Kinney's first winter of touring and I am so excited.
